Community Events in Melwood: Music and Poetry 2004

On Sunday, July 18th 2004 a delightful evening of music and poetry was held in the meadow in Melwood. Owned by Margaret Hunter and managed by The Melwood Conservation Group (MCG), the open space within the wood is a perfect venue for such events. The Meldreth Village Association (now disbanded) provided the gazebos and MCG provided a barbecue and salads. The event was completely free with attendees invited to bring along their own drink and meat to cook on the barbecue.

Fortunately it was a perfect summer’s evening and the audience were entertained to poetry from Clare Crossman of the Gallery Writers and Simon Pettisar, with music provided by Peter and Julie Draper as well as several other performers from Meldreth and Melbourn. Around 30 people attended and all agreed it had been a great success and that similar events should be held in the future.
